About

Textiles Graduate from Arts University Bournemouth, specialising in surface and print design for interiors, focusing on hand-painted qualities and vibrant colours.

My graduate collection 'Iberian Impressions' is an interpretation of Portuguese and Spanish landscapes which uses a painterly approach to mimic the texture and colour of these regions. It aims to combine solid marks with figurative elements that represent my creative narrative onto both hard and soft surfaces. I have focused on retaining the hand rendered aspects of my paintings to translate onto materials that are intended for a high-end interior application. This collection incorporates an experimentation of colour and form through hand screen print methods of procion, discharge and pigment . Amongst this I have used digital, UV and lino print as well as laser cut techniques to apply my designs to the surface in an innovative way. Designed with inspiration from The Bloomsbury Group artists and interiors, these samples emit a Fine Art approach to Textiles through bolder marks and finer details.

An Interior collection exploring shape and form within Still Life compositions, using colour and gestural marks to give a contemporary feel to this principal genre of Western Art. These printed fabrics, papers and tiles are an experimentation of hand-drawn and painted qualities to energetically uplift an environment. I have investigated this theme through screen, digital, lino and UV print to enrich the surface of contrasting hard and soft materials. By experimenting with scale, form and shape, I have been able to apply my illustrative style to a Fine Art approach to Textiles which has refined my narrative as a designer. Having been inspired by the works of Patrick Heron and Mary Fedden, this collection combines solid shapes of negative space with looser textural elements layered upon one another.

An interior collection of printed fabrics, papers and tiles taking inspiration from Midsummer in Finland.
