About
Career changer from surveying to weaving and enjoying every minute.Unleashing my creative side in textiles and weave, where I've found a love due to its magical nature of pattern formation, meditative methods in warping and weaving and the challenges of the process with it's infinite outcomes.Driven by the alluring mix of texture, thythm, colour and the form of weaving, within a process based art form.Motivated by the sence of achievement, learning from the foundations, understanding the 'why' and creating beautiful products.I gain inspiration daily from the world around me of the built environment, nature, geometrics and cycling alongside bold and rich colour.
Cycling, providing never ending and varied inspiration. Combining geometric shapes in bicycle design and accessories along with forms from the natural world I observed on my journeys travelled. Research has been from my cycle rides, cycle paraphernalia, cycle cafes, cycling magazines and local cycle events including the UCI championships held in Glasgow and cycle shows. Sustainability and experimentation with non-traditional yarns have been an important aspect to me. Working with spent inner tubes, discarded trainer laces, cable and elastic, plus using more traditional yarns and organic where possible and only using natural dye where required. All of which have fed into my colour palette. Creating designs and fabric for interior settings.
