Katie designs maximalist prints, specialising in digital and screen printing designed for both interiors and fashion. Using sustainable practises in Katie's projects is of the upmost importance. Colour plays a huge role in the designs, inspired by the Cornish coast to the Vibrant streets of Notting Hill. Attention to detail is something that Katie prides herself upon when creating her bold prints.
Katie Pope prides herself on her attention to detail, creating complicated screen and digital print designs. Katie's process starts with high-quality gouache paintings, exploring subject matter, shape and form, which evolves into bold screen prints and detailed digital designs. Colour palettes are a vital tool in Katie’s work inspired by London and Cornwall, creating timeless and classic collections. At the heart of Katie’s projects lies a passion for sustainability. Screen-printed test samples and print development are all conducted on deadstock fabrics. Furthermore, incorporating digitally printed fabrics, beautifully crafted using reactive dyes requiring less water and higher colour fastness, increasing the longevity of the chosen fabrics. The portfolio includes 'Sawdust and Sequins' and 'The Tuscan Kitchen'. Both projects are enthused by memories and first-hand experiences. ‘The Tuscan Kitchen’ showcases the homeware collection stimulated by a summer spent in Florence visiting bustling markets and tasting local cuisines. ‘Sawdust and Sequins’ conveys nostalgic memories of afternoons spent in the Cotswold countryside attending performances at Gifford’s Circus. ‘Sawdust and Sequins’ explores the fascination of Circus history and costume, observed through vintage programmes and photographs, dating back to 2006.
