About
Hi, I'm Zara. I am an illustrator currently based in Devon, originally from Kent.
I'm passionate about creating a positive impact through my work, drawing inspirations from the natural world and human experiences. I care about looking after nature and ourselves and using illustration as a tool to help communicate in fun and engaging ways. I produce my illustrations through mixing traditional and digital mediums. My visual language can range from simple spot illustrations to more complex compositions. This combines fun colours, bold shapes and use of quirky characters.
Recently was named Arts University Plymouth, Ones to Watch 2024 and D&AD Best in Show at New Blood festival 2024.
‘Seeds of Hope’ is representative of female empowerment and community, how we support each other, share wisdom and help each other grow and become stronger. I wanted to celebrate the power and magic of femininity, as throughout my life I have been inspired by strong, compassionate women. The imagery was inspired by responses to a questionnaire I created to gain insight on confidence among women and what empowers us. Over 70 amazing women responded and with their answers as well as my own personal project research into womanhood, I created imagery for an decorative illustrated throw. Alongside the throw is a book which explains the project and the meaning behind all the imagery.
