Yea Lim graduated product design student at Artez, hailing from a background in interior architecture design and is currently based in south Korea. She is an observant designer with a multidisciplinary attitude, seamlessly transitioning between product and shoes design. Yea Lim possesses a profound passion for working with the construction of objects, human relations, and behaviour. Her primary focus involves delving into issues that arise within the interactions among humans, objects, and various situations. By approaching problems from different perspectives, she has cultivated a diverse range of design approaches and found inspiration. Yea Lim identifies as a storyteller, aiming to use design as a medium to communicate with people by reflecting her experiences in the design process.
This project originated from research highlighting that traditional shoes with narrow toe boxes can deform the natural shape of the foot. Expanding the toe box offers several benefits, including improved balance, enhanced agility, relief from common toe issues like bunions, better circulation, and a reduced risk of injury. The design of the last is inspired by the natural spread of toes. It incorporates two different types of toe separations, reflecting the foot's natural shape.
