Im a multidisciplinary artist specialising in Illustration, Animation and Fine art. I studied at Kingston School of Art with a year abroad at The Ecole des Arts Deco in Paris. I love pattern, colour and themes of my work often include nature, beauty, the feminine gaze and love.
The Lady of The Sycamore Fig (2024), is a cyclical short film based on imagery from an extract in Sylvia Plath’s The Bell Jar (1963). At a crossroads in life, a woman finds herself dreaming at the roots of a fig tree. In her indecision at which path to take, her dreams rot away. Here, the boundaries between the spiritual and physical realm become blurred. Ancient rhythms of nature, life and death are invoked in this piece. Olive’s work takes a multidisciplinary approach, combining animation, paper craft and digital projections.
This deck of playing cards was designed with personal resonance; as an artifact documenting my travels in Paris. Intended originally as a gift for my late grandmother who was a champion of the card game bridge. Each card was made using hand cut printmaking techniques. As in archaic European tradition the deck depicts entirely female court cards (the jack, for example, is modelled after Frémiet’s statue of Joanne d’Arc). The King of cats however, just portrays my cat.
