Julia Shelehov is a glass-oriented artist whose work blends glass-blowing with elements of horror, philosophy, and fantasy. By incorporating metal and copper into her pieces, Julia explores the multifaceted nature of glass, which can be both delicate and beautiful, or spiky and harsh. Her art reflects a balance between fragility and resilience, continually pushing boundaries to uncover deeper meanings. Through her creations, Julia seeks to explore and connect diverse elements, inviting viewers to contemplate themes such as the complexities of the human mind and the contrasts between the beautiful and the grotesque.
The concept of beauty changes across times and cultures. What was unacceptable yesterday may be accepted tomorrow. This work deals with contrasts, transitional stages, and moments of dusk. By combining natural forms with surrealistic designs, there is an aspiration to illustrate and emphasize the fine line between chaos and order, and the dialogue between them. The deep dive into the intricacies of beauty aims to sew together the seams between adornment and beauty, reality and imagination, gradually unraveling. All this is in order to weave together the edges and opposing parts into a cohesive and challenging work. Materials: blown glass, copper, copper powders.
