Bachelors graduate working on plastic wastestreams.
Creating value from waste. In this bachelor's thesis, Julia Linnig addresses the challenge of creating new, high-quality material from plastic waste. The result of this research is terrazzoflex - a recycled material that is obtained from flex foil offcuts without any other additives and is characterized by its versatility and aesthetic appeal. ONE BAG is the resulting product family that impressively demonstrates the potential of terrazzoflex. These colorful backpacks and accessories are made entirely from flex foil waste from local digital print studios. Each piece in this collection gives the material a new life and furthermore can have at least one to three additional life cycles. ONE BAG combines sustainability with design and functionality and shows how something valuable can be created from seemingly worthless waste materials.
