Hi! I'm Hannah. I'm a multidisciplinary designer and artist from Sweden who wants to make the world a better place.
Svalka (Swedish: cool) explores the possibilities of air cooling without the use of refrigerants. It’s based on evaporative air cooling, which is a water-powered cooling principle that has been used for thousands of years. Svalka positions itself in the middle of high-tech and low-tech and challenges society's norms around air cooling and the aesthetics that go with it. What might this type of product look like? The tower-like air coolers are inspired by my own cultural heritage from my regional home Dalarna, and consist of 3D-printed terracotta vessels, turned wooden spacers, and CNC-milled flower-shaped dishes.
