About
I'm Hannah Cummings; a London-based design practitioner specialising in textiles print + caring to share the benefits of art and craft methods on wellbeing.
‘Ur Cool to Care’ is guided by a playful experience of the natural world and using this to generate artwork for textiles designs. I am interested in the role that art + textiles craft methods perform in aiding wellbeing and reconnection with self. Using a variety of processes both craft print and digital; a hand-rendered aesthetic is apparent throughout. This was due to my engagement with drawing techniques and the importance of tactility. Key words; ‘Play’, ’Stomp, and ’Nostalgia’ have influenced my mark making techniques, inspirations for research and creative process. ’Stomp’, was the name of a group workshop I led during this project. The aim of the workshop was to improve team members’ wellbeing; through time spent outdoors, drawing exercises that relinquish control, and considered craft therapy methods. This project is aligned with the ‘Impact’ category in regards to my active work on community wellbeing, my efforts to use sustainable natural materials and my understanding of the importance of reconnecting with our environment.
