The Heritage Harmony Project, located in the remote Kimberly region, is designed in response to the unique living conditions and cultural practices of Indigenous communities. The area, known for its rich Indigenous Rock Art and traditions, experiences a strong monsoonal climate with high summer rainfall. The house accommodates up to 12 people, focusing on family, gathering, and community. Private rooms are arranged around a central living area to encourage bonding. The house features detached rooms connected by walkways, elevated off the ground to provide ventilation and protect against flooding. This design also creates voids that enhance the connection between rooms and nature while allowing for private spaces essential for cultural practices. The rooms are partially open to the outside, with timber screens blurring the lines between indoor and outdoor spaces, further reflecting the Indigenous way of life. The master plan also includes paths to encourage social interaction among neighbours, promoting community living.
