About

An interdisciplinary designer from India with an interest in space, place, and print. I love exploring South Asian visual narratives through diverse forms of designed objects at the intersection of visual arts and graphic design. My practice highlights and celebrates often-overlooked aspects of culture and community while evoking nostalgia and raising awareness.

I often explore the possibilities of how different disciplines intertwine, making collaboration a significant part of my process. I have been actively researching the representation of documentation and archival material through print and digital mediums.

Also, I love collecting maps!

Firki: Objects of Transient Belongings

Firki* celebrates the colourful and diverse visual language of hand-painted signs in India’s public spaces through an art installation. Through the project, I playfully capture their transient essence through multiple designed objects, highlighting voices and narratives while documenting and archiving them. The art installation exhibits a series of pinwheels that display the documented and digitised signs, integrating them with printmaking methods such as screen printing and custom-made rubber stamps. I also explore various print outcomes to celebrate the community’s perception of the Indian graphic design style. Firki takes you on a trip down memory lane, embedded in a cultural heritage often overlooked as everyday ephemera. I also developed an interactive online version of the installation (in collaboration) - https://pinwheel-one.vercel.app/ *Firki (n) A hand-made paper pinwheel found on the streets of India.

This project honours the voices behind BBC Radio and Broadcasting with a vinyl dedicated to the organization's 100th anniversary (2022). As a sonic artefact, the design of the vinyl commemorates the community, contributing to the growth of radio, TV and much more. The design includes the names of the contributors, which are laser-engraved on acrylic-based vinyl, while the cover depicts the entire history and timeline of BBC radio.
