Hello! My name is Daphne Schenderling and I am a 22-year-old 2D animator, character designer, and illustrator from the Netherlands. Ever since I was young, I've loved drawing and creating. Nowadays I still try to let the great imagination I had as a kid be reflected in my current work. I like designing cute characters and telling stories with a subtle message. In my free time, I enjoy making stuffed dolls/animals and sometimes I like to experiment with linoleum, charcoal, or paint. I often get inspired by taking walks in nature and going to the theatre.
In order to acquire the last ingredient for her magic potion, a little witch has to overcome her fear of the forest. Luckily she doesn’t have to do this alone; her trusty firefly is there to help. Woodland Worries touches upon the subject of overcoming fear in a fun and lighthearted way. It shows children the subtle message that our fears are not always rational, with the emphasis placed on helping children realise that they don’t have to overcome their fears all on their own. While mainly focusing on 2D frame-by-frame animation and character design, I also wanted to incorporate aspects of my everyday life into this short story, such as my own irrational fears, and also my love for nature and fairytales.
