About
I am a textile designer, specialising in Weave. Capturing sophisticated visuality from surroundings is my interest. My focus lies in translating them into tactile textures and refined details in my designs.
The project aims to reconnect to my pure and sometimes surreal childhood freedom, bringing it to life as a collection of woven textiles. Recently, I had a chance to look through my old sketchbooks from five to six years old. They were filled with images rarely found in my present sketchbook: animals, figures, vehicles, and landscapes with colourful, rough, and uncontrolled strokes. As a child, drawing or creating was a source of pleasure as a form of play. Now I have my ‘creation frame’, which is trained, refined, and sometimes restricts me. Drawing is not considered a playful activity anymore. As an adult who wants to avoid drawing and gets pressure from it, I intend to revisit my childhood and enjoy and play.
