About
Brogan Vandenio‘s highly ambitious period feature-length film is an idiosyncratic ode to his working class family and upbringing. Vandenio’s work seeks to pursue a truth within his identity, drawing primarily on the relationship of brotherhood (his brother Riley Anderson plays the lead) and explores the idea of a child coming to terms with the reality of his family and origins. Using his own archive footage of a period spent in Venice before the concept of the film had fully germinated and a fictionalised home in Scotland, thanks to an eclectic bunch of friends it is a celebration of his time spent film-making.

BE LIKE WATER 2022 House of an Art lover – Interactive Film - ANNE-MARIE COPESAKE Brogan is a passionate artist, strongly focused on strengthening, developing, and refining his practice alongside his enthusiastic engagement with his community in Glasgow. During the instal Brogan worked through several difficult circumstances and set himself the challenge of acquiring new and complex technical skills to complete an ambitious multi-media work for public exhibition. His final installation comprising sculpture, animation, projection mapping and sound, presented an absorbing multi layered project, an ardent and animated reworking of diverse narrative and sensory stimuli. Brogans is working on a new project proposal for a film, described as an unhinged fairytale referencing Zanni, also known as Zani or Zane, a commedia dell’arte character with a relationship to immigrant workers and the countryside. His multi-media project for exhibition at house of an art lover, may be understood as a highly significant and sequential progression in his practice and development as an artist.

FILM STILLS Brogan vandenio's Feature-length film embodies a unique blend of artistry, spirituality, and a much love letter to the Commedia Dell'arte. Drawing inspiration from influential filmmakers and the directors personal experiences, it integrates into the realms of child consciousness and explores the nuance effects of unconditional love through a child's perception of seeing his mother in the role of god. A PRECIS OF THE FILM After an argument unravels between the Bulwer Family. Mother goes missing, leaving the youngest son Dorian in the hands of his berserk father and recluse brother. Balintore Castle is no longer home. Attempting to escape the mundane by lucid dreaming, Dorian finds himself in Venice. Something cryptic appears. After encountering a trickster with an hourglass, the ancient creature known as Zanni warns of its arrival.
