Passionate and motivated designer willing to learn and grow from experience. Currently finished studying at Norwich University of the Arts for BA (hons) Interior Design. Has also worked as a Kitchen and Bathroom Advisor for Wickes and worked as a freelance designer on a small scale residential project. I have strong skills in organisation, problem solving and communication, focusing on every detail to deliver a cohesive and practical design.
House and home: temporary accommodation for the homeless
In this current world, it is becoming increasingly difficult to afford necessities such as heating and shelter. Because of a global pandemic and cost-of-living crisis, surviving is now the main objective for many people’s lives. There is a gap in the market for temporary accommodation, the in between of sleeping rough and having a permanent address. Most temporary allocations are unkempt and unsuitable for their users, and with situations only becoming more dire, it is inevitable that local councils will soon be overloaded with cases leading to less sufficient care of residents. My project aims to break the stereotype of who suffers from homelessness and provide comfortable temporary homes for those in need. My solution is insertable prefabricated units that can make use of vacant buildings on highstreets, creating a practical yet homely space to live.
