About

Hello, I'm Amber.

I am currently in my second year of a Costume Design and practice degree.

These portfolios of work vary from work used I have completed in university modules, work used on stage in theatre productions and personal projects of exploring themes and media

A collaboration between Elmhurst X BCU Fashion/ Costume. We had the fantastic opportunity to collaborate with Elmhurst Ballet School to create costumes for their graduate class performance of À La Mode. These shows were performed at the Shaw Theatre in London, and at Elmhurst School. The costumes are based on Shakespeare plays, mine being influenced by Richard III. We had to design conceptual dance costumes by bringing the plays historical themes into a modern, contemporary setting. The costumes combine creative cutting and zero waste pattern cutting techniques to bring a more sustainable conscious approach to creating a costume. Dick Whittington at the Priory Theater

For the 2023/2024 priory theatre Pantomime, Dick Whittington, as well as being the head of Wardrobe for this show I made a nautical headpiece for the Dame by restyling a wig. Blithe Spirit at the Priory theater

In February 2023, I worked on Blithe Spirit at The Priory Theatre. For this production I made the dress for the ghost of Charles Condomine's first wife, Elvira. I made the pattern myself only using the actresses measurements and the directors instruction of the dress needing to have big sleeves and must be the ghostly green colour. This is a collection of garments I have made either for myself, or for others. this includes: -peasant blouses (made from old pillow cases and cot sheets) - circle skirt (made from an old table cloth) - trousers/ shorts - summer dress. these all are made using secondhand fabrics, either from scrap stores, donation or charity shops.

In my second year of university, I had my tailored Menswear jacket used in an in house exhibition.

while at university, my denim shirt was selected for a photoshoot. The shirt was from a module where we took inspiration from a decade- mine was inspired by the 1980's and we could only use secondhand or deadstock fabrics

Marie Antoinette. Uni 2, year 2 of university. We had to create a tailored jacket inspired by the movie Marie Antionette.

final major project for my art and design foundation year. My chosen context was the History of the Priory Theatre- A small theatre I was a member of at the time of this project. I created two pantomime dame style costumes inspired by the fire that happened at the theatre in 1976. the final work was displayed in an exhibition set up which was open to the public.

This is a project from my art and design foundation year where I began to specialise in costume. For this project, my chosen context was dystopia with a focus on technology taking over. I was largely influenced by the Cinematic Rock band, Starset, who follow a fictional narrative about a world overrun by technology. I created my own basic narrative with four Key concept characters.

This is my a where I first saw my work move in the direction of costume. the context for this project was Steampunk in the Modern Day and I explored new materials with the traditional aspects of Steampunk

This is a selection of illustrations I have created inspired by various ideas and prompts

a selection of work from a workshop exploring ways of illustrating faces for Costume illustrations

This was a university project where we studied Candoco, an inclusive dance company and their performance of "Last Shelter". We designed costumes for dancers with varying hidden and visible disabilities.
