I am a graduate from Lancaster School of Architecture with an interest in the built environment. I find joy in and am fascinated by learning about transport systems, urban design, architecture and social behaviours.
The Campus of Joinery and Forestry nurtures a culture of considerate resource use, educating individuals on the uses of timber while fostering respect for its sources. Inspired by Chinese principles of landscaping, the spatial organisation of the campus is designed to connect visitors to their immediate and surrounding context, creating intriguing routes through the campus' understory that hide the structures of the school whilst also framing the serene landscape in which it sits. Taking precedent from Japanese construction, the rhythmic timber structure of the buildings dictates the sizing of internal spaces. Large apertures that enable movement of people, light and heat also grant passers by a peak into the activities inside.
