Noopur Choksi, is an award-winning Visual Designer and Illustrator from India, currently based in Baltimore.Recently graduating from the Maryland Institute College of Art with an MFA in Illustration Practice, Noopur previously completed undergraduate studies in Graphic Design at the National Institute of Design (NID) in India. Noopur's work showcases experimentation with typography, illustration, narratives, and various forms of image-making, using visualization to externalize the often intangible, energetic, and emotional environments of subjects. Driven by a passion for creating inclusive narratives that are both bold and layered, Noopur challenges societal norms and invites viewers to see beyond the surface.

"The nature of being" explores the essence of feminine existence, drawing parallels between womanhood and forms and patterns found in nature. It encapsulates the intricate interplay between individual identity, societal constructs, and the natural world. With aspects of the self materialized in nature, at the heart of this exhibit lies an inquiry into the complex relationship between our inner and outer worlds. By intertwining facets of science, nature, surrealism, and symbolism, I aim to vividly depict the ethereal, the introspective, and the liminal realms. How can we explore the female body without succumbing to the pitfalls of biological determinism? How can I visualize the wonders, limitations, absurdities, and expressions of womanhood in a way that is both intimate and universal? Elements in nature serve as metaphors for exploring and illustrating the multifaceted nature of femininity. This project invites you to embark on a contemplative exploration of the feminine condition, and as the surreal forms take up space in your mind’s eye, I urge you to take a deep breath and gaze gently.
