About

I believe that the essence of a well-designed space lies in its ability to resonate with people on a deeper level, creating an environment that not only reflects my intentions but also invites personal interpretation from those who experience it. My design philosophy revolves around this interplay between the intentional and the interpretive, allowing the space to tell its own story while leaving room for individual connections.

The kowloon walled city: rebuilt

Located in Kowloon Walled City Park, the project enhances the existing museum within the Yamen by incorporating underground expansions, enabling the museum to fully realise its potential. Additionally, parts of the building are repurposed into a café, broadening the building's functionality and reinforcing its role as the park's central social hub. The inspiration for the project came from a visit to Kowloon Walled City Park in 2022 with my mom. I was captivated by the museum's content but felt the presentation did not do justice to the extraordinary history of the Kowloon Walled City. This motivated me to design a more immersive and experiential museum journey for my final year project. During the design process, much of my development work was informed by research on capturing the claustrophobic atmosphere of the Kowloon Walled City. This included experiments with rigid forms through 3D printing and 1:1 scale experiments reflecting my own experiences with confinement. In the final phase, extensive research was conducted through museum visits, analysing narrative portrayal in real exhibitions, such as those at the Jewish Museum in Berlin and the Imperial War Museum in London
