In this master’s thesis, the investigation centers on the recycling and repurposing of secondary fabrics within the domain of sports footwear. A primary focus is directed towards the process of material transformation, aiming to confer a secondary life to these materials. Provides a comprehensive examination of the historical and cultural trajectory of sports footwear, encompassing its evolutionary milestones, requisites, and societal embedment. Furthermore, it delves into the contemporary interface between humans and footwear in the 21st century. Instances of works by footwear designers and fashion entities espousing sustainability paradigms are elucidated. Concurrently, attention is devoted to the artistic community’s engagement with recycling practices and the adaptation of fabrics for a renewed existence.
