My work explores my discovery of Devore Denim through fashion and textile design. Changing the weight of denim fabric from hard to lightweight sheer material. My experimentation of burning away denim fabric opened up a realm of possibilities, inspiring me to delve deeper into the manipulation of fabric weight. Initially, I stumbled upon the idea of applying Devore techniques to denim fabric, a departure from its typical usage on other textiles. This led me on a quest to find the perfect denim with specific fiber compositions, meticulously balancing percentages to achieve the desired effects. Throughout the process, I embarked on a series of trials, exploring various Devore methods and making other fabrics look like denim as well to tie my collections together. By strategically alternating the weight of the denim fabric, I uncovered layers of lightweight sheer fabric, adding a fascinating dimension to traditional denim textiles. Each step of this discovery has been marked by curiosity, experimentation, and a relentless pursuit of innovation. This journey has not only expanded my understanding of textile techniques but has also ignited a passion for pushing the boundaries of creativity within the denim industry.
