About

I am a young Scottish filmmaker, born in the seaside town of Kirkcaldy, Fife. Beginning by photographing local bands, I had some exciting opportunities to go away on UK tours at the age of just 16, which resulted in me leaving school at a young age. From this point, I began experimenting with alternative processes. Building a darkroom allowed me to bring handmade prints to the local people who I’d become increasingly interested in photographing. For me, this process was an excuse to speak with new people, see new places and learn about local history. Over the following two years, the prints evolved into interviews, and later, short films. 5 years later, and with a BA Hons Degree in photography, I still work within the music industry. A milestone being my recent collaboration with James Slater and Domino Records for the music videos on Bill Ryder-jones’ album Iechyd Da. Throughout this process, I was able to cast local Fife-based 13 year-old Lincoln James for our video for This Can’t Go ON, which went on to receive endorsements from the likes of Iggy Pop and Clash Magazine. Alongside this, I continuously pursue documentary narratives personal to me, and bring these into my work whenever possible.

Film Storytelling

Following Gordon Hush - a charismatic bottle digger, we gain an insight into his average day. Having spent the last 30 years in the library researching various locations of Victorian dumps within his local area, Gordon has made a name for himself within this niche community. Digging up bottles from abandoned dumps - what started as a hobby, has turned into a lifestyle. In this short documentary, we follow Gordon on his never-ending quest to find the perfect bottle.
