The LUR project, which means LAND in Basque, is an innovative design proposal that consists of the creation of a ‘sensory garden’. It offers multisensory experiences using technology to allow a deeper reconnection with the environment and with ourselves. In a world dominated by speed and digitalisation, it seeks to transform leisure, focusing on connecting to the community and aligning with the values of Generation Z by stimulating their senses and provoking emotions and meaningful experiences. Located in square Tirso de Molina in Madrid, a densely populated urban area with vehicular traffic problems and high levels of noise and environmental pollution, it focuses on improving the quality of life for residents and visitors. The green areas of the square are underutilised due to inadequate design and maintenance, which the project aims to change. LUR addresses the human disconnection and social isolation caused by immersion in digital devices and social networks, which have reduced face-to-face interactions and increased loneliness. This project offers a space designed to stimulate the senses and provide a refuge where visitors can disconnect from the digital world and reconnect with the beauty and simplicity of everyday life, encouraging social interaction and emotional well-being.
