About

My thesis collection, Juana, is a tribute to my mother and her journey as an 18-year-old Peruvian immigrant who crossed the Mexican border into the U.S. She risked everything, leaving the only home she ever knew in hopes of finding a better life for her family. My mother’s story of courage and resilience is the driving force behind my creative exploration.Creating this collection has been a deeply personal and reflective process for me. Spending late nights in the studio, I drew inspiration from Peruvian photographer Martín Chambi’s black and white images. I challenged myself to make an all-white collection that conveys the richness of textures and shadows, relaying a narrative that resonates with contemporary immigrant experiences. From starting out at FIT with no prior fashion training to having my pieces featured on New York Fashion Week runways and on the pages of Harper’s Bazaar, I have achieved dreams I never knew I had
