Yibing is a Chinese illustrator who majored in children’s books at Goldsmiths University and holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the Central Academy of Fine Arts. She excels in using colored pencils, pastels, and brush pens to create her illustrations. Her works reflect her deep appreciation of nature and the beauty of life.
It is Still Here is a non-narrative story presented in a poetic format, where "It" refers to a forest. The delicate illustrations depict the changes in time and seasons experienced by the forest. A mother bear guides the story: she awakens from a long hibernation, gives birth to two cubs in spring, roams with them on summer nights, enjoys the fruits of fall, and eventually faces the natural separation from her cubs before re-entering hibernation. Set far from urban life, this work immerses readers in a wild world devoid of human presence, emphasizing the serene beauty of nature and the cyclical passage of time and seasons.
