About

Shige aka Tsang Fan Yu (曾繁宇 / ソ シゲサカイ) was born in Hong Kong. In 2014, he graduated from BA degree programme of Social Work in the City University of Hong Kong. The same year, Shige entered The Hong Kong Polytechnic University to begin his fashion journey. Since 2019, Shige started his studies in Bunka Fashion College based in Tokyo, Japan.  Shige was the finalist of 2015 Young Designers' Contest in Contemporary Day-wear category, and the winner of Best Accessories Design Award with his menswear collection - YONよん. This collection was invited to showcase in NYFW SS16. The same year, Shige was the finalist of 2015/16 Redress Design Award as Hong Kong representative. After this competition, Shige began to explore and develop genderless sustainable series and accessories goods.  In June 2024, Shige was the sole representative of Bunka Fashion Gakuen to showcase his graduate collection at Graduate Fashion Week in London. He has also been shortlisted as a finalist for the Circular Design Challenge in partnership with the United Nations in India and will be showcasing his work at Lakmé Fashion Week this October.

I LIVE, I DIE, I LIVE AGAIN

Exploring Sustainable Resources in Contemporary Japan: A Pathway to a Sustainable Future The collection focused on sustainable fashion by repurposing fabric waste from local Japanese sources, such as kimonos and life jackets, and incorporating natural materials like pineapple fiber and apple vegan leather. By transforming discarded textiles and using innovative biomaterials, my collection embodies environmental responsibility and social awareness. Each garment minimizes waste and demonstrates the creative potential of sustainable design. Through this work, I hope to inspire a shift towards eco-conscious fashion, showcasing the beauty and versatility of sustainable materials in the industry.
