Hello! I’m Wenqing Gu, a visual artist focused on illustration and 2D animation based in the Bay Area, USA. I believe in the power of simplicity and childlike joy, and I strive to infuse my work with a sense of fun and wonder that brings happiness to my audience. My creations are known for their whimsical, humorous, and warm style, inspired by my experiences growing up in both China and the USA.
In 2021, I made the leap from accounting to pursue my passion for creativity and storytelling full-time. I’m interested in children’s books and products, with the goal of inspiring and uplifting young minds through my art. Collaboration and community are central to my creative process, and I’m always excited to bring a touch of joy and magic to every project I work on.
What do we talk about when we talk about the inner child? Is it naivety, kindness, and boundless curiosity? Or is it recklessness and speaking without a filter? What's your stance towards the inner child? Is it openness and acceptance, recognition but inaction, or perhaps skepticism or even denial? In my project, I offer my answers. Just as simple ingredients can be used to create exquisite dishes, the most genuine and pure emotions can bring about wonderful life experiences. Maintaining an inner child is something to be truly proud of. In this room, try giving Big Belly a hug, doodle at will, and play with the building blocks.
