About
Hi I’m Julie, a graphic designer and illustrator specializing in branding, visual identity, and art direction. With experience across China and the U.S., I create visuals that blend strategy, storytelling, and bold aesthetics. I recently earned my MFA in Graphic Design from MICA, where I explored how human relationships and societal change can inspire design that sparks thought and conversation.
This is a love letter to the art of tiling. Over the years, I have documented various tiles I have come across. From rustic homes in southern China, to French colonial mansions in Shanghai, to the pavement I walked on every day, to temples in Thailand, all of the beautiful tiles have fascinated and inspired me. In this project, I want to combine my love of tiles with typeface design. I have created grid systems based on tile patterns and used different paving methods to create unique display typefaces.
