About

Presently, I am a third-year student at The Northern School of Art studying BA (Hons)Textiles & Surface Design. This multidisciplinary field of study has allowed me to form a higher level of creative thinking which has encouraged the formation of my conceptual textile art. I am continuously inspired by the wonders and biodiversity of the natural environment, observing the delicate, ethereal and vibrant grace of the organic elements that are disrupted by humanity's destruction and the brutality of current climate affairs. My aim as an artist is to create emotive responses that empower action against the negative impacts imposed on our planet and raise awareness of the importance of both humanity's and nature's wellbeing.

Apart of Us explores the interconnections between humanity and the natural world through a combination of experimental and technical approaches. Our worldly ecosystem is continuously regenerating. It creates and processes repeatedly, each time growing and evolving into something beautiful. I have created this collection as a passionate response to the delicate, ethereal and vibrant charm of the natural environment. Throughout my practice, I have prioritised using natural and upcycled fibres such as habotai silk and polyester satin made from recycled bottles. This will allow my textile art to decompose naturally over time or be repurposed continuously. As an artist, I wanted to voice my sustainable ethos through natural processes that do not compromise the environment. Therefore, I have implemented the use of eco-printing and natural dyes, from vegetables, fruits and flowers. Further mediums I have used within this project include cyanotype and sublimation print with elements of hand and free-motion and embroidery. ”The whole of life is coming to terms with yourself and the natural world. Why are you here? How do you fit in? What’s it all about?”–Sir David Attenborough.
