About
My name is Maija, and I just graduated from Oslo National Academy of the Arts in spring 2024, where I was studying graphic design and illustration. Additionally, I work as a freelancer. I have a passion for handlettering and calligraphy.
I have always been interested in card games. As a child, I used to play cards with adults and children at my grandmother's cabin. During my studies, I developed an interest in drawing letters and words. These became two interests I wanted to combine in my bachelor project. In this project, I have drawn a large number of cards by hand (454). The end product includes a facsimile of the sketchbook and a card deck. The aim of the project is to test out as many different solutions as possible. I wanted to challenge the possibilities and limitations the classic card deck gives us.
