This September Arts Thread joins forces with designjunction to promote the work of 20 new designers from around the world - work that ranges from furniture and lighting to jewellery and interior textiles. This edition takes place September 21-24 2017 at King’s Cross as part of the London Design Festival.
Arts Thread Selects at designjunction has been co-curated by Louisa Pacifico, craft & design expert and owner of the Future Icons Gallery in London alongside Helen Kemp, founder of Just Got Made, a platform to support and connects the maker community in the UK.
Seven of the designers are emerging talents who studied at the Istituto Europeo di Design IED and come from across its campuses in Milan, Madrid, Barcelona and São Paulo.
Three designers/studios from Brazil – Muriell Pacheco & Sara Romano, Ana Paula Naccarato and Guilia Comuni are present thanks to the help of the Brazilian communications agency GrupoCasa.

designjunction is London’s leading destination for design during the annual London Design Festival. Launched in 2011 by a team of industry experts, designjunction connects the world’s most renowned design brands with some of the world’s leading architects, interior designers, specifiers and buyers. Since 2016 the show has a new and long-term home in King’s Cross, attracting last year more than 27,000 visitors across four days during the London Design Festival.

CO-CURATOR HELEN KEMP
Helen Kemp is the founder of Just Got Made – an online and offline platform to connect the maker community working in the UK: designers, makers, manufacturers, suppliers and maker facilities. We want to make it easy for small businesses to reach each other and start making products together. Our specialist curated directory, network-building events and inspiring emails are all made by us to help you find the goods and services you need.
IED ISTITUTO EUROPEO DI DESIGN
Thanks to the partnership with Arts Thread, IED is proud to present the exhibition CASA IED at designjunction 2017: a selection of projects by students from BA and MA courses of IED Barcelona, IED Madrid, IED Milano and IED São Paulo. Set in an imaginary living space, the projects show the designers' views on contemporary issues such as: lack of space due to high-density urban zones, nomadic living and the need of 'emotional' furniture, integration of innovative and traditional crafting techniques. Different stages of the design process are on show: from the first prototype to the ready-to-market object.
Istituto Europeo di Design is an international network operating in the fields of education and research in Italy, Spain and Brazil. IED Design, IED Fashion, IED Visual Arts and IED Communication are the four departments present in each IED location, united by the common denominator of design culture. In the last 50 years IED has been an active player of the big "makeovers" in shapes and experiences of our cities and environments actively contributing in setting our society, designing new lifestyles, objects, images, spaces and processes. Nowadays IED - in its different locations - rises as a constellation: a global education network able to read, interpret and manage the complex nature of the current times.
