About

I am Weiran Tao, I am an observer, I am very interested in reversing something very usual into something funnier and profound. I study fashion design at Parsons, enrolling four different pathways within my journey of studying which is [collection], [materiality], [products], and finally [system & Society]. I love making products that bring joy. I consider fashion is one of the most creative and compatible forms that is able to perform multiple possibilities with different kinds of incomes. it can be expressive at the perspective of products, with its unique identity of closely relates to human bodies, we can find more connection on how to design with newer, funnier, engaging perspective that most are most effective for human and the future society.

My project is about simulating a bionic perspective from the object itself to humans. In my mind of creating the system of my daily objects by turning them into giant wearable experiences for people, they are no longer “invisible” to people and they act like a reliable guardian who has tangible feeling in the process of interactions with humans and always keeping the joyfulness in the moments of people staying at home. Can we find new ways to experience the realities or inanimate objects in order to push new design boundaries? By emphasizing on the everyday objects, I am not only creating life-size objects costumes, but I also want to convey the message that our surroundings are powerful, and we can see things at different angles, sometimes so different and so unexpected that we can always be ready for any challenges in lives.
