About
Tal Peretz, 28 Years old, Photographer, living in Jerusalem.
Graduate of the Department of Photography at Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design, jerusalem.
My practice is focused on photography, video and their exhibition in space. When i create a body of work i look for the subjects and places that i feel the most connected to at the moment. I return time and again to the same places in order to immerse myself in them and to familiarize myself with the people who make up its community. I often photograph myself in my projects as a means of connecting to the people and the places in photograph.
Once i get to exhibiting my projects i try to, in a way, disconnect from the projects and my feelings towards them and focus solely on how the photographs and videos will fill the space in a playful and meaningful way.
Three years of ongoing wars and instability are leaving their mark on our country. The campaign protested by the citizens to end the wars seems to be at a standstill after years of continuing demonstrations and struggle. As a result of the disassosiation with the way my country is being led, i found myself constantly returning to my parent’s beach town of Ashdod. This ever changing environment of sand dunes and waves allows my thoughts to wander freely in the search of the kind of place id want to call my home. The images and video in this series are the result of the search for that place.
