Sumin Joo is a visual development and background artist. She specializes in storytelling through fantasy world-building, using color and design to create immersive, emotionally rich environments. From childhood daydreams to professional projects, her passion lies in crafting narrative driven spaces that feel alive and culturally grounded.
Fallen Sky is a visual development project set in the canyons divided by betrayal and survival. Long ago, the fennec fox elites sided with their god in a great war, abandoning the poor foxes to the scorched badlands while they ascended to floating islands of luxury. The story begins when a young rebel steals a sacred fruit, awakening the wrath of the god. To bring life back to the dying desert, she must face the consequences of that act and challenge the history that tore her people apart.

Global Creative Graduate Showcase 2025
Beyond the Tracks is a visual development project by Sumin Joo. It charts the emotional journey of the story through a visual intensity chart, moving from exposition to inciting incident, encounter, conflict, and resolution. The narrative follows a bullied girl who boards a subway bound for purgatory. There, she must face judgment and confront her inner trials in order to earn her way back to the real world.
