Simon is a visionary designer and educator with a Master's degree in Design and Secondary Education. His work bridges material science, interaction design, and emotional experience, creating sensory-rich and sustainable interfaces that invite deeper connection with ourselves, others and our environment.
Rooted in a hands-on interdisciplinary practice, Simon thrives in collaborative settings by combining craftsmanship, emerging technologies, and storytelling to shape meaningful futures.
He spends much of his time outdoors, drawing inspiration from the shapes, rhythms, and patterns of nature and exchanging ideas and concepts with people from a wide variety of fields. These experiences and interactions flow directly into his design work.
Sensational Wood transforms sustainable wood into an expressive medium to foster a deeper sensory and emotional connection with everyday objects. It is a vision of how nature and technology will shape the future together. Wood is transformed into a conductive surface using IC-LIG, a bio-based innovation from ETH. This natural texture and sensory responsiveness engage users, inviting them into a state of flow and creating a multi-sensory experience through touch, breath, and movement. The crafted interfaces respond to touch, breath, and movement gracefully. The innovative prototypes blend natural haptics with digital expression, merging sustainable innovation with emotional design through sound, light, vibration, and scent.
