About

Shannon Jade Wilson is an Irish multidisciplinary artist based in the South-East of Ireland. Her practice explores folklore, memory, grief and the spectral, asking how stories and traces of the past continue to haunt bodies, materials and landscapes. Working across printmaking, drawing, installation, sculpture, moving image and sound, she combines archival and place-based research with materials including acetate, chalk, flax, raffia and hair. Wilson graduated in 2026 with a BA in Fine Art – Printmaking from the National College of Art and Design, Dublin. Her graduate installation, They That Sorrow / Lucht an Dobróin, draws upon Irish mourning traditions, oral storytelling and the figure of the banshee. Works from her graduate series Cnuasach / A Mass have been acquired for Ireland’s State Art Collection.

They That Sorrow / Lucht an Dobróin

They That Sorrow / Lucht an Dobróin is an immersive installation exploring what haunts us and how folklore, grief and memory persist through bodies, materials and landscapes. Rooted in Irish mourning traditions and the figure of the banshee, the project brings together printmaking, drawing, sculpture, moving image, projection and sound. Acetate drypoints, flax monotypes, chalk hair drawings and suspended knotted forms evoke traces of absent bodies and inherited stories. Developed through archival, oral-history and place-based research, the installation unfolds as a fragmented, spectral environment where landscape, voice and material become carriers of collective and personal memory across time and generations.
