I am a 24 year old British Designer. I was brought up in Cheshire in the North West of England, however I have lived in London for the past 5 years whilst completing a BA in Interior Design at Chelsea College of Art and an MA in Biodesign at Central Saint Martins.
I like to explore various disciplines throughout my work, primarily focusing on merging sustainability with spatial design. Combining my skills in art, design, textiles, and biology, I aim to create interdisciplinary projects generating new connections between the user and the spaces we inhabit. I am very passionate about utilising waste from different industries, investigating the potential of materials living through several lifecycles.
S.A.L.T presents an innovative solution that challenges the conventional use of materials used within the interior and architecture industries. This project explores the potential of utilising salt-brine-waste, a by-product of salt water desalination. By combining this highly-salinated brine with beautifully hand crafted scaffolds made from discarded textiles, a remarkable new material can be generated. This material imitates the beauty of nature reintroducing the essence of growth and life back into our inhabited spaces.
