Sally Bjerre Gaarde (DK) is a recent Master’s graduate from The Swedish School of Textiles within Fashion and Textile Design. Her practice explores core aspects of the field via elevated upcycling techniques, material-led processes and material narratives, critically reflecting on fashion by engaging with alternative approaches to garment construction, craft and fashion heritage.
Anchored in reality, history and craftsmanship, Ensemble of Iconic Fragments, is her Masters Degree Collection. It was showcased during Copenhagen Fashion Week SS27 and awarded with H&M Group's Fashion Design Scholarship 2026 and Poul Frankenius Foundation's MA Fashion Award.
The collection unravels fashion heritage by referencing and manifesting interrogations with ideas of luxury, value and femininity from the level of stitch and thread.

Referencing is quintessential to fashion practice, with iconic design pieces continuously shaping cultural and historical understanding through archival presence and status. Heritage is approached as an evolving process and a site for knowledge, emphasising material of the past as a mirror reflecting the now. By reworking canonised pieces, the collection activates their cultural significance aiming to explore fashion heritage within a contemporary context. The work cultivates precision and awareness in referencing and elevates upcycling beyond strategy into a critical and poetic method, allowing material and form to manifest meaning.
