About
I am a designer deeply focused on material-driven design and honest material expression. I enjoy working through self-production to the extent that the design allows, maintaining transparency with the final result.
Research into olive oil production byproducts for furniture design, resulting in three stools that pay homage to my grandfather and his hometown. The project focuses on alperujo, the primary byproduct of olive oil extraction. This material consists of everything left over from the olive after the oil is pressed out: the pulp, skin, and crushed pits. Once dried and defatted, it is bound with natural pine resin to create a hot melt bioresin that can be shaped through mold casting. This specific combination of olive and pine was chosen to physically reflect the landscape of Torres (Jaén), my grandparents hometown, a place surrounded by both trees.
