Pauline Ööpik is an Estonian fashion designer whose work bridges experimental pattern cutting, philosophical inquiry, and everyday wear. Her research-driven practice often transforms data, language, and personal narratives into garments, combining mathematical precision with emotional storytelling. Working through draping and innovative construction methods, she explores themes of balance, endurance, heritage, and human experience, creating fashion that invites both physical and emotional engagement.
Fashion collection “viik : viik” explores the idea of a draw as a mature form of balance rather than weakness or defeat. The project questions our tendency to equate effort, pain, and exhaustion with achievement, asking when the need to win can finally be released. The seven-look collection was developed through experimental cutting practices based on the writing speeds of the words viik, draw, and tie. These measurements were transformed into graphs and coordinate systems, generating shapes that became the starting point for draping. In terms of materials, Tencel represents the sporty aspect of a draw, denim reflects its presence in everyday life, while organza captures the delicate and fragile essence of a draw.
