Paul Maikovsky is a Somerset-based product designer with experience across lighting and furniture studios in Amsterdam and London. His work combines balanced forms with technical assemblies to create products that remain physically and emotionally durable. Paul’s work explores light as a dynamic element of the home, through interaction, spatial change and wellbeing.
The position of the sun once structured our daily lives. Today, modern indoor lifestyles limit access to natural daylight while increasing exposure to artificial evening light. Disrupted circadian rhythms then contribute to poor sleep, metabolic dysfunction and cardiovascular risk. Verge reconnects people with the intrinsic relationship of light and time, through a dynamic pendant light that mirrors the position of the sun in its natural arc. Light output changes in spectrum and intensity, through multi-channel LEDs, to support the body’s physiological needs across the day. Verge translates the passing of time into the urban home through light’s spatial movement and circadian support.
