About
I am Olivia Hausmann, a Design Engineer based in Barcelona, with a strong passion for product design, especially furniture. I graduated in Industrial Design Engineering at Elisava University, where I developed a multidisciplinary approach that combines creativity, technical knowledge, and problem-solving.
Since April 2025, I have been working in the Product Department at Marlotbaus, a furniture design and production company. This experience has allowed me to understand the entire process behind a product, from the initial concept to its technical development and production.
What I enjoy most about design is finding the balance between creativity and feasibility. I am particularly interested in developing ideas that are not only visually and functionally compelling, but also realistic to manufacture. I like exploring materials, production processes, structures, and technical solutions to adapt a design to what is actually possible.
I see engineering as a tool that allows me to push design further: understanding its limitations, finding solutions, and transforming an idea into a feasible and producible product. I am a proactive, resourceful, and curious person who enjoys working in teams, learning through challenges, and turning concepts into tangible objects.
This Final Degree Project explores the design, engineering, and production of luxury transformable furniture through the Transfold concept. The project focuses on the development of a custom-designed folding chair, conceived with a refined aesthetic, high-quality materials, and a formal language aligned with MarlotBaus’ values of luxury, exclusivity, and craftsmanship. The project is completed with an adaptation of the Jissa table, reinterpreting its legs as premium storage spaces for the folding chairs. In this way, the proposal integrates functionality, discretion, and innovation without compromising its elegant and timeless appearance, maintaining the character of a fixed piece of furniture that remains coherent with the brand’s identity.
