Nyal Mueenuddin is a Pakistani-American documentary filmmaker, focused on climate change and human rights topics in South Asia. Having worked as a freelance cinematographer and photographer with international NGOs and media groups such as the United Nations, the BBC's Natural History Unit, CAPA, NatGeo and others, Mueenuddin is now starting his own documentary production company in Islamabad, collaborating with local actors and striving to create impactful films about the region's most pressing issues.
A year after a historic heatwave triggered devastating flooding across Pakistan, a filmmaker embarks on a 3000 km journey down the Indus River seeking to capture the most intimate stories of Pakistanis whose lives have been forever impacted by climate change. In this deeply personal portrait of the Pakistani people, When the Floods Come acts as a poignant tribute to the enduring spirit of the people of the Indus River, who search for a way forward amidst a crisis they are not responsible for.
