Noelani Fishman is an illustrator, designer, and storyteller based in New York City. They are most interested in illustration, publishing, branding, and experiental media.
Using bold colors and strong expressions, her work merges the underground and "low brow" with techniques and stylings of the Flemish Renaissance.Nothing is sacred in the world of the internet, so why should it be different in art? Noelani Fishman's work is in constant conversation with moving technology, the human condition, and the bizarre. Fishman's work discusses the world of instantaneous purchases, half hazard connections, and a conceptual stranger.“The Nexus of The Strange, The Intimate, and The Web” is a catalog of encounters with strangers, the rise of internet culture, and a glimpse into the religious history of confession. The project was born from late nights on Omegle connecting with 40-year-old men as an isolated 12-year-old in the middle of Tennessee. Emotional intimacy is complicated. The boundaries separating public versus private have become even more blurred since the rise of social media. “The Nexus of The Strange, The Intimate, and The Web” serves as a tool for readers to question intimacy, its invasive nature, and to who we reserve our most intimate moments. Throughout this project, there was heavy research into internet forums, religion, the concept of confession, and how we exist as strangers in the world.
