About

Naomi Blundell Meyer is an artist based between Berlin and London. Her work explores processes of transformation, drawing on speculative fiction, material memory, and bodily metamorphosis. Working primarily with clay, she approaches ceramics as both a sculptural and alchemical medium, where process, firing, and surface become sites of narrative and emotion.

She graduated from the Ceramics and Glass MA at the Royal College of Art in 2026, where her research expanded on bodily entanglement with the more-than-human world. Her practice oscillates between tenderness and the grotesque, often producing visceral and hybrid sculptures – part human, part geological, part speculative.

Recent work has been shown in exhibitions and project spaces across London and Berlin. Alongside her studio practice, she explores a reading-writing-making-reflecting methodology which evolves from a research-led approach grounded in contemporary art discourse and material investigation.

She is interested in the transformative potential of ceramic processes, the role of fictioning and poetics in contemporary culture, and the ways sculpture can hold and transmit embodied experience.

Breathing in soil: A transmutation

How is the body shaped by systems of power? What traces of history do we carry? And what happens if we begin to see the land and other beings as equal bodies too? ‘Breathing in Soil: A Transmutation’ flows through three interwoven chapters: Traces, Descent, and Transmutation. Moving inwards and down into darkness – both physically and poetically – I explore our connection to the Earth as a space for reflection, transformation, and healing. The work imagines new ways of being, where bodies are entangled, interconnected, and constantly becoming-with one another. My work maps a journey of bodily metamorphosis, and asks how we might foster different forms of empathy and responsibility. It does not propose a neat answer; instead, it traces how feeling, falling apart and slowly re-assembling with the world and other beings can become a method for processing emotion, and sensing change.
