I am Maria Valentina De Ponte, a Venezuelan fashion designer focused on craftsmanship, precision, and elevated garment construction. My work is defined by a rigorous attention to fit, silhouette, and detail, ensuring each piece is developed with clarity of purpose and technical integrity.
I design across womenswear, eveningwear, bridalwear, and accessories, balancing creative direction with construction-led thinking. Every piece is approached with a focus on quality, functionality, and refinement, where concept and execution carry equal weight.
I graduated in 2026 from Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) with a B.F.A. in Fashion Design. I am currently focused on developing my practice and contributing to creative teams and brands that value precision, craftsmanship, and design excellence.
The Cycle of the Suitcase explores migration, memory, and cultural identity through the suitcase as both object and vessel of experience. Inspired by my family’s journey from Madeira, Portugal, to Venezuela, the collection reflects on the memories, traditions, and aspirations carried across generations. Portuguese Madeiran embroidery merges with Venezuelan weaving, basketry, and handcrafted textile techniques, while luggage-inspired details and multifunctional garments translate the suitcase into a wearable language. Repurposed leather and inherited fabrics are transformed through experimental textile techniques, connecting personal history with contemporary design. Through craftsmanship and storytelling, the collection celebrates resilience, adaptation, and evolving identity shaped by migration.
