About
Lyra Thompson is a character animator. With a first class degree in BA (Hons) Animation, from University of the Arts London. Specialising in 2D Character Animation & Storyboarding. Embracing emotional storytelling through animation.
Recently finished her graduate film: Knitted In. Thompson's original idea: she was also responsible for the story, storyboarding, directing, producing and was lead animator. Teaching resilience with such a heavy workload, and rapidly gaining technical skills.

It explore the avoidance of grief through a woman's addiction to knitting. It's dedicated to her mother, and was an opportunity to explore her own avoidance of grief after her mother's death in 2024. Gertie refuses to acknowledge the grief caused by her husband's death and instead distracts herself by knitting. But as reminders of her past surround her, her knitting escalates until she isolates herself in a cocoon of yarn, where she is trapped until she finally confronts her grief.
