I'm a ceramic artist currently finishing BA degree at the Royal Danish Academy.
In my practice I crave structure, both in the way I work and in what I create. Clean lines, geometric shapes and repetition captivate me. Working with plaster molds and porcelain slip allows me to achieve this precision. It’s demanding and unforgiving, but I like the complexity and attention to detail it takes to produce great results.
I’m equally driven by curiosity. I dive deep into material research, pushing
clay to its limits in new, creative ways. By incorporating technology into my
work, I explore its potential to expand our understanding of traditional craft
and unlock alternative methods of making.
‘Digital metamorphosis’ centres around a fundamental question: Does technology kill craftsmanship? By experimenting with porcelain and a laser cutter I have developed a novel technique that showcases the dialogue between material and technology. I use the laser cutter to engrave geometric shapes onto the porcelain. During the high-firing, those shapes resist movement while the rest of the body shrinks around them. This internal conflict generates intense physical tension, completely transforming the final piece. Strict lines become waves, geometric shapes become organic and distortion becomes a medium that allows the tactile and the digital to meet as equals.
