About

Laura Schneider is a communication designer and photographer based in Germany.

With a background in advertising, marketing and communication design, her practice moves between visual communication, photography and experimental image-making.

She studied Communication Design at HBK Saar and has worked in advertising agencies, startups and as a freelance photographer and content creator.

Her work is driven by curiosity.

She starts with questions - often questions about people, technology, perception and the world around her - and uses creative processes to investigate them.

Photography has become her primary research tool: a way to observe, experiment and make complex thoughts visible.

She is interested in what happens when a carefully constructed idea meets something that cannot be completely controlled.

Question → Research → Experiment → Discovery

Liquid Filter began with a question: what makes creative work feel human in a world increasingly shaped by AI instagram filters and digital perfection? Using my camera as a research tool, I explored this question through an analogue process involving water, glass and light. The materials form a physical filter between the camera and the subject, transforming the portrait through movement, reflection and distortion. While the setup is carefully constructed, the final image cannot be completely controlled or reproduced. Through this tension between intention and chance, Liquid Filter explores imperfection as a creative quality and the unexpected moments that emerge when the artist allows the process to take over.
